From The CEO: Sydney Welcomes the World Cup for AHL Weekend

From Hockey NSW CEO Paul Bruce:

Dear Hockey Lovers,

Despite being just five months old, 2010 has been a year of standout success for Australian Hockey. The Kookaburras claimed the World Cup Trophy with a stunning series of performances in New Delhi back in March, while the Hockeyroos qualified for the Womens World Cup with an unbeaten run in the recent qualifying tournament in Chile. The NSW Arrows have won four out of five matches played so far in the Womens AHL, while the NSW Waratahs are gearing up for an all-out assault on the Mens AHL starting next month right here at Sydney Olympic Park.

The Hockey NSW community will get a taste of that success from the 18th until the 20th of June when the World Cup trophy comes to Sydney as a part of the opening round of the Mens Australian Hockey League.

NSW Arrows Well In The Hunt For AHL Title

The NSW Arrows have tasted disappointment for the first time this Australian Hockey League season, going down to the Queensland Scorchers 2-1 in their fifth round clash played on Sunday in Darwin.

Despite the loss, the Arrows are well placed heading into the final week of competition, which kicks off Friday in Adelaide. Just two points adrift of Queensland on the ladder, the Arrows are poised to once again give the AHL title a shake.

To find out the latest about the Arrows, look under Latest News on the AHL page of the Hockey NSW website.
